Rafael de la Hoz
Rafael de La Hoz Castanys has been one of the most prolific architects in Spain for the past few years, but he is also the creator of some of the most important architectural complexes in Portugal, Hungary, Romania, Poland and the United Arab Emirates.
This Córdoba-born professional studied at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (University of Architecture of Madrid) and after obtaining his degree, he obtained a Masters M.D.I at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Polytechnic University of Madrid). He currently directs the Rafael de La-Hoz Arquitectos studio, formerly managed by his father, renowned Architect, Rafael de La-Hoz Arderius. He is also a visiting Professor at various universities and is part of the Editorial Committee of Arquitectura Magazine.
Some of the many prizes he has won include the Averroes de Oro a las Bellas Artes (2010) Fine Arts prize, the COAM Distinction (2010) for the work of architects, granted by the Official College of Architects of Madrid, and the Community of Madrid’s prize for innovation, the Premio a la Innovación en los Premios Calidad, Arquitectura y Vivienda 2006. On an international scale, he has won (among other prizes) the Bex Awards Prize 2005 in Greece, for ‘Technological Innovation’, and the Chicago Atheneum’s American Architecture Awards 2004 prize.
