The association DOM3

Selects a plot along the beachfront in Estepona for the III DOM3 International Architecture Prize 2018

Contestants of the present DOM3 PRIZE edition must develop a building under all the parameters of high-end quality housing with more than 9,000 square meters of buildability.

The Association of Businesses for High Quality Housing DOM3 will present the rules officially on March 8, in Estepona.

The finalist plot is a piece of land of over 3,000 square meters and a building area of more than 9,000 square meters located on the beach front by the entrance of the urban center of Estepona, in the area of La Cala. An ideal location to develop the object of DOM3 PRIZE 2018 International Architecture Prize, which in this edition will focus on the construction of a high-end apartment building.

The plot “is one of the last ones of such nature available on the Costa del Sol”, explains the president of the Association DOM3, the landscape  specialist Laura Pou, who has advanced that all the technical information and the opening of registrations to participate in this contest will take place officially next March 8.

For this purpose, DOM3 is organizing an event that will take place at the facilities of the Orchidarium of Estepona, where all the details of the call will be announced.

Pou points out that it was a challenge to offer contestants an original contest object different from what has been done so far.  Thus, if in its first edition, the DOM3 PRIZE focused on a villa in La Zagaleta, (Benahavis), the second edition held in 2016 proposed the development of a master plan in the area of Santa Clara, (Marbella). In this third edition, the aim was to provide another vision of high-end quality housing focused on a first-class building in Estepona. “With this, we fulfil the objective that we set out from the constitution of DOM3 as it is to promote what we ourselves call a “DOM3  AREA” comprised by the municipalities of Marbella, Estepona and Benahavis”, adds the president of DOM3.

A competition of international impact

This new edition of the DOM3 PRIZE 2018 International Architecture Prize aims to continue increasing the prestige of this event. Previous editions welcomed the participation of more than 300 architecture studios or teams from around the world of over 30 different nationalities.

In this edition, the architect or team of architects creating the winning project will be part of the future team that will carry out the construction of the contest object. For the president of DOM3, this has been significant goal of the association to satisfy the wishes expressed by many of the contestants from previous editions.  In addition, the financial amount to be awarded as first prize will be superior to that offered in previous editions.

According to the planning proposed by DOM3 for the development of the III DOM3 PRIZE International Architecture Prize, after the presentation of the contest rules on March 8 and its dissemination to all professionals in the sector, public administrations and universities, the call will be officially open.  The presentation of works, according to the roadmap marked, will probably conclude in the last weeks of May 2018, since the awards ceremony is scheduled for mid-June 2018.

A group of companies committed to quality and honesty in construction

DOM3, Association of Businesses for High Quality Housing, is a group composed by thirty companies related to the design, promotion, construction and marketing of high-end homes, located mainly in Marbella, Estepona and Benahavís. The objective of the entrepreneurs associated with DOM3 is to create initiatives that promote the improvement of the competitiveness of the companies in this field and influence public administrations so that quality, in the broadest sense of the word, is the engine of the industry in the area.

In this way, DOM3 encourages honesty as a principle in the professional activity of each and every one of its associates.  For the members of the DOM3 Association, it is important to highlight and show administrations that they must be vigilant so that in the good times of the field, such as those that are beginning to be experienced again at present, Costa del Sol maintains a clean and safe area for investors or foreign citizens who chose to have their second home in the area and can do so safely.
