The “Community by design” project designed by the architectural studio in Marbella directed by Belgian architect David Tuan, wins the DOM3 Prize 2016
The Jury of the International Architecture DOM3 PRIZE 2016 of Marbella awarded the “Domus Aqua” Project with the 2nd Prize, designed by the Architectural Studio in Madrid CMA Arquitectura & Q Arquitectura with the 3rd Prize being awarded to “Tierra Nueva” created by JRDR Arquitectura located in Marbella and Four o Nine in Shanghai.
The DOM3 Association of Entrepreneurs and Professionals for High Quality Homes, joined with the State Secretary for Infrastructure, mayors and municipal representatives of Marbella, Estepona and Benahavís and representatives of leading companies in the surrounding area for the award ceremony dinner.
The COMMUNITY BY DESIGN proposal presented by the Architect David Tuan, responsible of the Architectural Studio Tuan and Co and created in collaboration with Mathieu Lèbre, it was announced winner of the II Edition of the DOM3 PRIZE International Architecture Prize, obtaining the first prize of 40.000€.
The final Jury of the DOM3 PRIZE 2016, was composed by renowned Architects such as Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra, Rafael de la Hoz, Juan Gavilanes and Antonio Cruz, of the Cruz & Ortiz Studio, together with representatives of the main Sponsor, Urbania International, José Manuel Díez de Oñate and led by the Landscape Architect Laura Pou, President of the DOM3 Association and organiser of the Competition, declared that the 2nd prize of 20.000€ was to go to DOMUS AQUA, a project created by the Architectural Studio CMA Arquitectos & Q Arquitectura in Madrid.
The 3rd prize of 10.000€, went to TIERRA NUEVA, created by JRDR Arquitectura located in Marbella, in collaboration with Four o Nine Studio located in Shanghai.
There were also special mentions for the following projects: ARCADIA, created by the Architects Pablo Atienza and Juan Blázquez, from the studio in Málaga called EZAR and MARBELLA GREEN, created by Abiboo, with headquarters in New York and Madrid.
The Jury’s decision was announced during a gala dinner celebrated on the 17th of June in the gardens of the La Concepción de Marbella estate. Present was the State Secretary of Infrastructure, Transport and Housing and President of ENAIRE, Julio Gómez Pomar, the Mayors of Estepona and Benahavis, José María García Urbano and José Antonio Mena respectively, as well as city councillors from Marbella Isabel Pérez and Javier Porcuna and the President of the DOM3 Association, the Landscape Architect Laura Pou, among other authorities and representatives of business and professional groups of the region.
The President of DOM3, Laura Pou, in her opening speech gave her appreciation to all the authorities present at the gala, as well as for the Architects, Architectural Platforms, Media and members of the Jury, as with their presence and participation made the II International Architectural Prize DOM3 possible and helped it to grow as well as adding prestige.
Pou reminded those present of the effort that the non-profit association DOM3 had to make to organise the International Architectural Prize with the importance that the DOM3 Prize is acquiring, already in its 2nd Edition, she also thanked the sponsors “without which none of this could have been possible”, she noted.

DOM3 PRIZE 2016. A chronology of success
The past 3rd of March the official contest guidelines for the 2nd Edition of the International Architectural Prize of Marbella DOM3 PRIZE were presented in an act celebrated at Icon’s headquarters, a property development carried out by Urbania International, main sponsor of this second edition organised by DOM3 Association of Entrepreneurs and Professionals for High Quality Homes.
The last day to hand over the projects was the 16th May, 145 participants had inscribed to take part in the competition, among them individual Architects and groups of Architects, proceeding from more than 25 different cities and 14 nationalities. The important success of national and international participation, establishes the International Architecture Prize DOM3 and places it as a reference among other architectural contests worldwide.
The final word of the second edition of the DOM3 PRIZE is a thank you to the participation of the following Architects Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra, Rafael de la Hoz, Juan Gavilanes and Antonio Cruz, of the Cruz & Ortiz Architecture Study as members of the final Jury gathered on the past 3rd of June.
DOM3. Guaranty and good work.
The Association of Entrepreneurs and Professionals for High Quality Homes DOM3 started over 4 years ago with the mission of improving the competitiveness in the sector, encouraging high quality residential tourism and situating Marbella, Estepona and Benahavís, known as the Golden Triangle, as an international model in this field.
Among the multiple initiatives that the organisation have carried out to achieve these goals are the 1st International Architecture Prize of Marbella 2014, the aim was the construction of a villa in the urbanisation La Zagaleta. The winner of this first edition was the studio Francés+Sastre Arquitectos.
In 2015 the Strategic DOM3 Forum was celebrated in the Felipe VI Auditorium in Estepona. A vision of the present and the future of High Quality Homes, that united, over 300 businessmen and women, professional and authorities that debated about the state of affairs in the field of residential tourism.
The main sponsor of the II International Architecture Prize DOM3 PRIZE 2016, Urbania International, has offered the competitors a 60.000 square meters plot located in the east of Marbella, in the Urbanisation Santa Clara.
