DOM3 pays tribute to Count Rudi and the Marbella Club on their 70th anniversary

The iconic hotel, a symbol of high-quality tourism, becomes a partner of the association.

At an emotional gathering held at the iconic Marbella Club, the association of high-end housing entrepreneurs DOM3 commemorated the 70-year history of this legendary hotel, a pioneer in the development of luxury tourism on the Costa del Sol and a key player in attracting aristocracy to Marbella during the city’s golden early years.

The event, part of DOM3’s autumn programme, brought together business leaders, local authorities, and industry professionals who once again highlighted Marbella Club’s role as an international benchmark for luxury and excellence, as well as its contribution to the current high-end property market, with the hotel being the first point of entry for potential clients in the sector.

The tribute was attended by Marbella’s mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, who recognised the hotel’s trajectory, describing it as an economic engine for the city and praising its contribution to making Marbella a world-renowned luxury destination.

“To speak of excellence and quality is to speak of Marbella Club, and if there is one person who represents all of this, it is Count Rudi. Marbella had the perfect raw material, but staying relevant for 70 years is no easy task, and this success is the result of outstanding work,” the mayor remarked.

One of the most emotional moments of the evening was the tribute to Count Rudi, a central figure in Marbella Club’s history and a witness to Marbella’s growth from the very beginning. Count Rudi, who has been associated with the hotel since its inception, shared anecdotes about how this emblematic establishment, founded in 1954 by Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe, laid the foundations for what is now Marbella’s luxury market.

“I completely fell in love with Marbella the first day I saw it. Those were years of intense work, and here I am, hoping to stay for many more,” said Rudi, emphasising that what makes Marbella Club unique is the personalised and close attention that all the staff provide to the guests, without ever compromising the highest standards of professionalism and excellence.

Marbella Club, new partner of DOM3

The director of Marbella Club, Julián Cabanillas, highlighted how the hotel’s legacy of innovation and exceptional service has been a constant driving force in the evolution of the Costa del Sol as a luxury destination. He took the opportunity to announce that the hotel is set to reach an agreement with DOM3 to become a partner of the association.

“This agreement is very important for DOM3, because Marbella Club is the leading representative of high-quality tourism and projects that image of Marbella around the world. Additionally, it opens the door for potential investors in the luxury property sector, as many clients experience the excellence of the destination while staying in this magnificent hotel and then decide to invest here,” said Charly Simon, president of the association, praising the iconic establishment’s history and Count Rudi’s work.

DOM3, the association that brings together the main players in the high-end housing sector in the region, took the opportunity to reinforce the close relationship between Marbella Club and the development of the luxury real estate market on the Costa del Sol. Charly Simon, president of DOM3, stated: “This anniversary is a celebration of the luxury and exclusivity that DOM3 and Marbella Club share. Our commitment to quality and excellence aligns with the vision that Prince Alfonso had 70 years ago when he founded this hotel, and it is that vision that continues to drive the growth of the high-end property market in Marbella,” added Simon.

Founded in 1954 by Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe, Marbella Club transformed the image of the city and marked the beginning of a hospitality concept that combined luxury, privacy, and the elegance of the most glorious seaside parties. What began as a modest retreat for the prince’s friends and family quickly became a meeting place for European aristocracy and Hollywood stars.

With the full support of Count Rudi, the hotel consolidated its prestige and was instrumental in creating Marbella’s image as a destination of luxury and exclusivity. Today, 70 years later, Marbella Club remains a reference point for international tourism, combining tradition and innovation to offer a unique experience with a level of quality, excellence, and elegance recognised worldwide.
